
Second Half Starts With a Bang at The Joe

CHARLESTON, SC - Charleston kick starts its home games of the second half of the 2009 season with a four-game series against the Greenville Drive, an affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, that begins Tuesday, June 30, and runs through Friday, July 3.
Opening the four days of "Fun is Good" at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park will be Nancy Appreciation Night and Service Master Salutes the Firefighters of the Lowcountry Night on a BI-LO Two-for- Tuesday. The annual Big Splash Day brings typical foes water and baseball together with a rare 12:05 p.m. first pitch as there will be endless water for all the kids of the Lowcountry on a predicable hot and humid Wednesday. Following another huge Thirsty Thursday Night that includes Where is Carol Merman and Transformers Night, the highlight of the homestand will be the largest pyrotechnic show of the season on Friday, July 3, as part of the Independence Day Celebration at The Joe with the gates opening at 5:00 p.m. due to a special game time of 6:35 p.m. With only 35 home games left in the 2009 season, fans again will enjoy a plethora of excitement throughout the final months of the season along the scenic banks of the Ashley River.
Nancy Appreciation Night / Service Master Salutes the Firefighters of the Lowcountry / BI-LO Two for Tuesday
Fans attending Tuesday's game between the RiverDogs and the Drive can enjoy double their fun when they purchase two tickets for the price of one, and check out our two-for-one food and drink specials in the Ashley View Pub as it is another Bi-Lo Two For Tuesday. This Tuesday is also Nancy Appreciation Night. Celebrate all the famous and not-so-famous Nancys in our lives at The Joe. Plus, the RiverDogs will select one Nancy from the phone book to throw the ceremonial first pitch. It's also Service Master Salutes the Firefighters of the Lowcountry as the night includes fund-raising activities and contests, including a firefighter gear race. Two-for-Tuesday / Nancy Appreciation Night / Service Master Salutes the Firefighters of the Lowcountry is presented by Bi-Lo, Service Master, 98X and the CW.
Big Splash Day at The Joe
Join the RiverDogs for a rare 12:05 pm start time and prepare to get wet because this Wednesday is the annual Big Splash Day. Wear your bathing suits to The Joe as the RiverDogs turn the stadium into a giant water park. Watch out for water balloons, squirt guns and a giant water cannon. Big Splash Day is presented by B92.

Every Thursday is a Thirsty Thursday offering beer for a dollar at the Ashley View Pub. It is also Where are you Carol Merman? Night. Plus, don't miss Transformers Night at the ballpark as a few lucky fans will win tickets to the newest Transformers movie. Thirsty Thursday / Where are you Carol Merman? / Transformers Night is presented by 95SX.
Independence Day Celebration / Red Shirt Friday / ALS Night/Fireworks
The RiverDogs conclude the homestand in style as gates open at 5 p.m. with a special 6:35 p.m. first pitch as fans celebrate Independence Day early with the biggest fireworks show of the year. Charleston will be donning their red jerseys as part of Force Protection Red Shirt Fridays so wear a red shirt and get a dollar off a walk-up ticket price. Fans then have the option to donate that dollar to a military family with parents fighting overseas. Commemorating the 60th anniversary of Lou Gehrig's "Luckiest Man on the Face of the Earth" speech, PA announcer Ken Carrington will read the famous farewell speech in a pregame ceremony as part of ALS Night. Join the RiverDogs for a dazzling display of pyrotechnics immediately following the game with Gene Reed Toyota's Fireworks Night. Independence Day Celebration / Red Shirt Friday / ALS Night/Fireworks are presented by Gene Reed Toyota, Force Protection Industries, Inc. and Clear Channel Radio.
