Augusta, GA - More strong pitching from Eric Surkamp and three Augusta GreenJackets home runs led the Jackets to their fourth straight win over the Rome Braves by a 9-1 score at Lake Olmstead Stadium on Friday night. Augusta is now 2-0 in the second half.

Augusta scored in every inning but the first and eighth with a 12-hit attack that saw eight of the nine members of the starting lineup get hits. Josh Mazzola drove in three runs with his third home run in the last two nights and Andy D'Alessio drove in a pair on a double and a long home run over the right-centerfield scoreboard.

The Braves scored on a Gerry Rodriguez RBI single in the first, one of three hits in the inning off Surkamp. After that, Rome mustered just two more hits off Surkamp (5-2) through the remaining six frames. He fired seven solid innings, allowing just the single run while scattering five hits and a walk with seven strikeouts.

Wendell Fairley's groundout tied the game in the second and Mazzola's sacrifice fly in the third gave Augusta the lead for good. Juan Perez scored from third in the fourth with two outs while Johnny Monell was caught in a rundown between first and second to grow the lead by another run. After Mazzola's two-run blast in the fifth, the rout was on for the GreenJackets.

The icing on the cake came in the seventh when the Jackets hit a pair of longballs - a solo shot by Dom Duggan deep to left and D'Alessio's two-run tape measure shot two hitters later that put the Jackets up by eight.

Mazzola now has hit safely in his last ten games and has knocked in at least one run in every game for the last nine contests.

These two teams will meet for three more at Rome's State Mutual Stadium beginning Saturday at 7:05 p.m. to complete a stretch of nine straight games between the Braves and GreenJackets. Ari Ronick (4-4, 2.83) will take the mound against Brett DeVall (4-4, 3.52) on Saturday in a game that can be heard on WRDW AM 1630 and online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.
