July 11, 2019 - Eastern League (EL1)
Erie SeaWolves News Release

The SeaWolves opened up their post-All-Star break schedule with a 5-3 win over the Altoona Curve at UPMC Park. The win snapped Erie's six-game losing streak to the Curve.

The SeaWolves struck first in the opening frame against Altoona starter Sean Brady. Derek Hill led off with a bunt single but was cut down attempting to go from first to third on an Isaac Paredes base hit. Jose Azocar followed with a single putting two on. With two outs, Josh Lester reached on an error, allowing Paredes to score for 1-0 lead. Daniel Pinero brought home both baserunners with a two-run double for a 3-0 lead.

Erie added to the lead in the fourth when Pinero blasted a one-out, solo home run to left-center for a 4-0 lead. The home run for Pinero was his seventh.

SeaWolves starter Logan Shore was brilliant for the second straight start. He began his outing by hurling five scoreless before the Curve got on the board in the sixth. With two outs, Jared Oliva sent a ball off the wall in left-center for a triple. On the play, a Cam Gibson fielding error allowed Oliva to score making it 4-1.

Erie responded in the seventh against reliever Joel Cesar. With one out, Sergio Alcantara sent a solo blast to right-center, his second home run of the season, for a 5-1 lead.

Altoona attempted to rally in the ninth against Erie reliever Will Vest. Oliva led off with a double and Bligh Madris reached on an infield single. Robbie Glendinning singled home both baserunners with a single to center. Vest would battle back to strike out Jerrick Suiter and inducing a flyout off the bat of Arden Pabst to close out the game.

Shore (3-7) earned the win in his second straight quality start. He allowed an unearned run on two hits with two walks and three strikeouts in six innings. It was the first win for Shore since May 12.

Brady (3-8) took the loss for Altoona allowing four runs, one earned, on six hits with a walk and no strikeouts in six innings.
