Fisher Cats Overpower Yard Goats, 13-8, with Best Offensive Night of 2019

Hartford, CT - With a season-high 13 runs and four homers, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Toronto Blue Jays Double-A affiliate) overpowered the Hartford Yard Goats (Colorado Rockies) 13-8 on Thursday night at Dunkin Donuts Park, securing their third consecutive win.
The Fisher Cats (8-13) scored five times in the second inning to open up a 5-0 advantage, starting with a sacrifice fly from top prospect Kevin Smith, who was reinstated from the injured list before the game. Brock Lundquist followed with a three-run homer to right field, and Vinny Capra went back-to-back with a solo shot to left.
All-Star Nash Knight led off the top of the third inning with a home run to right to extend the lead to 6-0. The 'Cats added two more runs in the fourth with a bases-loaded single from Josh Palacios and a run-scoring error from Hartford.
The lead reached its apex in the top of the fifth at 10-0. Riley Adams and Chad Spanberger started the frame with singles, and a second sac fly from Smith scored Adams. Christian Williams then ripped an RBI triple to get New Hampshire to double digits.
Hartford (9-11) sent ten men to the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning and scored five runs. They added another in the sixth inning to cut the lead to 10-6.
Jackson McClelland had New Hampshire's best performance out of the bullpen, retiring all four batters he faced with one strikeout. Hector Perez started the game, and allowed four runs on five hits in four-plus innings.
Ty Culbreth (L, 3-7) took the loss for the Yard Goats, while William Ouellette (W, 1-0) earned his first Double-A win by recording three outs in the fifth inning.
Bryan Baker retired Hartford's last three hitters in the ninth, and worked around an 11-minute rain delay that came with two outs in the inning.
Adams went 3-for-4 and scored three times, and Williams finished 2-for-5 with four runs batted in.
Game two of the series is on Friday at 7:05 p.m. with the Fisher Cats scheduled to start RHP Yennsy Diaz (7-6, 3.59 ERA) against Hartford LHP Jack Wynkoop (6-9, 3.03 ERA) at Dunkin' Donuts Park.
