Altoona answered in the bottom of the first. James Boone led off with a single and Melvin Dorta doubled to put two in scoring position. With one out, Brad Corley grounded home Boone, tying the game 1-1. Jason Delaney followed with his second triple of the season, scoring Dorta for a 2-1 Curve lead.

Erie would regain the lead in the top of the second. Will Rhymes singled for his first of four hits on the night. He stole second and scored on a Kody Kirkland base hit to make it 2-2. Kirkland would later scored on a Danny Worth groundout to make it 3-2 Erie.

Altoona again answered in the bottom of the inning. Victor Alvarez led off with a double and was moved to third on a Milver Reyes sacrifice bunt. Alvarez would score on a Jonel Pacheco base hit making it 3-3.

The Howlers regained the lead for the third time in the game in the top of the third. Deik Scram singled with one out for his second hit of the game. Scram would score on a two-out double by Max Leon for a 4-3 Erie lead. Leon scored on a Rhymes single to extend the lead to a pair at 5-3.

The Curve would knock out SeaWolves starter Josh Rainwater in the bottom of the third. After Rainwater struck out Delaney for the first out of the inning, Anthony Webster singled and Luis Cruz doubled to put runners on second a third. Alvarez walked to load the bases for Reyes. Reyes worked the count full and drew a walk to make it 5-4. With the bases still loaded, Boone hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Cruz, tying the game at 5-5. Dorta followed with his second hit of the game, a single scoring Alvarez giving the Curve a 6-5 lead.

The score would remain 6-5 until the Curve added a seventh run in the bottom of the sixth. Pacheco doubled and scored on a bloop single by Corley.

Trailing 7-5 in the top of the eighth with one out, Leon and Rhymes singled against reliever Josh Shortlef. Altoona made a pitching change to bring in Kevin Roberts to face Kirkland. Kirkland slammed his second home run of the season to put Erie ahead for the first time since the third at 8-7. Kirkland finished the game with a season-best four RBI.

The lead, however, would be short lived as the Curve struck right back in the bottom of the eighth against reliever Brett Jensen. Boone led off with a single and was sacrificed to second on a bunt by Dorta. Pacheco singled to center to bring home the tying run. On the play, an errant throw behind the plate from Freddy Guzman in center allowed Pacheco to reach third. Corley then sprayed a double down the right field line to bring home the go-ahead run for Altoona. The Curve would add one more run in the inning on a Cruz base hit for a 10-8 lead.

The SeaWolves threatened in the top of the ninth but fell short. Ramirez reached on an Alvarez error at third and stole second. Roberts then retired the next two but Ryan Roberson hit an infield single that scored Ramirez to make it 10-9. With the tying run on base, Leon flew out to deep center to end the game. It marked the third straight game where Erie had the tying run either at the plate or on base and they failed to convert.

Jenson (1-1) took the loss for Erie.
