Dave Maroul pounded a solo homer to left field to get things started as Olmo Rosario was hit by a pitch. Broshuis bunted Rosario to second and Ben Copeland singled in the speedy Rosario home to make it a one run game, 3-2, Mets.

Just like clockwork, the Defenders gave their hard earned run back to the Mets as Nick Evans connected on a solo blast to make it a 5-3 game.
