
SeaWolves Fall in 10 Innings to Altoona

The SeaWolves five-game winning streak came to an end on Thursday night as the fell to the Altoona Curve in 10 innings by a 6-5 final at PNG Field.
The SeaWolves jumped ahead in the top of the first inning against Altoona starter Sean Brady. Isaac Paredes singled with one out. Jose Azocar followed and worked an 11-pitch at-bat that resulted in a two-run home run to left for a 2-0 lead. The home run for Azocar was his fifth of the season.
Altoona tied the game in the home half of the first against Erie starter Alex Faedo. Mitchell Tolman led off with a single and Chris Sharpe followed with a two-run home run.
The Curve took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Jared Oliva led off the frame with a double and he moved to third on a Bligh Madris infield single. Oliva scored on a Jerrick Suiter groundout for a 3-2 lead.
Erie tied the game in the top of the eighth against Curve reliever Jesus Liranzo. Derek Hill led off with a and with one out, Jose Azocar singled and Frank Schwindel walked to load the bases. With two outs, Daniel Pinero drew a walk, scoring Hill.
The game went into the 10th inning tied. Erie started with Hill on second as the free runner against Austin Coley. Paredes was hit by a pitch and Azocar singled, loading the bases for Schwindel. Schwindel was hit by a pitch, plating Hill for a 4-3 lead. Josh Lester followed and rocketed a ball off the second baseman Tollman. An error was charged and Paredes scored for a 5-3 Erie advantage.
Altoona started the last of the 10th with Gift Ngope was the free runner on second against reliever Will Vest. With one out, Sharpe singled home Ngoepe to make it a one-run game. Oliva singled, putting the winning run on base for the Curve and Robbie Glendinning doubled home both runners for the walk-off win.
Coley (1-1) earned the win allowing two unearned runs on one hit with no walks and a strikeout.
Vest (2-4) took the loss allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits.
Faedo took a no-decision despite hurling a quality start. He allowed three runs on six hits with a walk and four strikeouts in six innings.
Brady went seven strong innings for the Curve allowing two runs on six hits with a walk and six strikeouts.
