Erie SeaWolves News Release

The SeaWolves could find no relief as their losing skid continued in the twin bill in Binghamton as the Mets took both games of the double header.

Game one saw Erie ace Kyle Ryan struggle to command his trademark cutter and Binghamton capitalized early, leading to a 4-2 SeaWolves loss. Eric Young Jr. on Major League Rehab reached base on the first walk issued by Ryan in his last two starts. After stealing and advancing on a Brain Burgamy single, a sacrifice fly by Matt Reynolds put Binghamton up 1-0.

Erie responded in third with some small ball. A double by Aaron Westlake was followed by a Dixon Machado sacrifice bunt and Jamie Johnson sacrifice fly to tie the ball game at one. The SeaWolves grabbed their only lead of the day when Devon Travis hit his sixth homerun of the season to put Erie ahead 2-1.

The wheels came off for Ryan in the fourth. Three straight singles loaded the bases with no outs. Travis Taijeron singled home two runs to put Binghamton up 3-2. Kyle Johnson's sacrifice fly gave the Mets all the insurance they would need for the night.

Ryan would be relieved after five innings by Bryan Augenstein who struck out two of three. Adam Kolarek picked up his second save of the season, closing out the finial 1.1 innings. His only two saves this year have come against Erie.

Game two saw the long ball sink the SeaWolves' ship 6-0. Erie was held to just three hits all game while Hansel Robles attacked the strike zone to grab his first complete game shutout of his career.

All of the Binghamton runs came on homeruns. Brain Burgamy homered in the first off starter Nick Avila to make it 1-0 Mets. Matt Reynolds added two more in third off Avila with his deep shot. Matt Clark added another to make it 5-0 in the fifth off a moonshot that traveled an estimated 400 feet. The final homer came in the sixth when Travis Taijeron smacked one to deep center field to make it 6-0.

The night ended when Corey Jones attempted to stretch a single off the right field wall into a double. Taijeron's laser from right had Jones out at second, ending the night.

The SeaWolves will try to steal one from the Mets Father's Day night at 6:35 at NYSEG Stadium.
