
Dogs Hunt Down Ducks in Series Finale

(Akron, Ohio) June 15, 2014 - The Portland Sea Dogs played long ball Sunday afternoon in an 8-0 shutout of the Akron RubberDucks in front of an audience of 6,888 at Canal Park, with all but two of their runs batted in by homers.
The RubberDucks brought 22,681 fans to Canal Park over the weekend series against Portland, the largest crowd on the season.
Keury De La Cruz knocked in the first three runs for the Sea Dogs with a solo home run in the second and a two-run homer in the fourth.
Portland took off in the seventh, producing four runs in the inning. A double by Derrik Gibson sent Heiker Meneses across the plate followed by a three-run homer cracked off the bat of Sean Coyle, extending the Sea Dog's lead to 7-0 in the seventh.
A sacrifice fly by Michael Brenly sent Sean Coyle home in the ninth for the final run of the game.
Tyler Naquin continued his team-high hitting streak, extending it to 17. The center fielder has now safely hit in 24 of his last 25 games and leads the team with a batting average of .326.
Akron starter Cody Anderson was charged with the loss, pitching four and two-thirds innings. The righty allowed three hits, three earned runs, two homers and walked six batters.
Brian Johnson chalked up the win for Portland, hurling six innings, allowing for hits and walking one batter.
Following an off-day Monday, the Akron RubberDucks will travel to Reading, Pa., to begin a three-game series against the Fightin Phils. Righty Toru Murata (4-2, 3.23) will start for Akron, and left-hander Adam Loewen (0-0, 2.45) will take the mound for the Fightins. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1350 AM in the Akron area, and also via www.AkronRubberDucks.com.
The Akron RubberDucks are the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. The 2014 season is its 18th since moving to Canal Park and its first since becoming the RubberDucks.
