
Berry Solid as Baysox Avoid Sweep

Bowie, Md. - The Baysox were able to avoid a three-game home sweep at the hands of the Harrisburg Senators with a 6-2 Father's Day win Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Baysox are back to .500 where they have spent all but one day this season.
Baysox starter Tim Berry threw six innings and allowed one run on five hits while striking out six and walking four in the win. He started off the game with five shutout innings to help protect the Baysox early lead.
Bowie benefitted from nine walks to go along with nine hits in the game. Playing with the Baysox on a Major League rehab assignment, Nolan Reimold drew a season-high four walks in the game, including one with the bases loaded.
The Baysox had not held a lead in the first two games of the series, but struck quickly in the bottom of the first inning against Harrisburg starter Brian Dupra. Niuman Romero hit a one-out single to right field and Nolan Reimold followed with a walk. Christian Walker brought Romero home with a single to left field and Dariel Alvarez then singled to center field to load the bases. Ronald Bermudez brought another run home with a sacrifice fly to right field and Garabez Rosa capped the scoring with a two-RBI double to left field to give Bowie a 4-0 lead.
Bowie picked up another run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Sharlon Schoop walked, David Freitas walked and K.D. Kang singled to right field to load the base with no outs. Colin Bates then replaced Dupra on the mound and Romero grounded into a double play that scored the only run of the inning for the Baysox, extending the lead to 5-0.
The Senators got on the board in the top of the sixth inning against Berry. Caleb Ramsey hit a lead off single to center field and Kevin Keyes drew a one-out walk. With two outs, Quincy Latimore brought Ramsey home with a single to center field to make the score 5-1.
The Baysox got the run right back in the bottom half of the inning. With one out, Freitas, Kang and Romero all reached to load the bases and Reimold then drew his fourth walk of the game to bring home a run and make the score 6-1. The next two batters were retired with the bases loaded to end the inning.
Harrisburg cut into the Baysox lead in the top of the eighth inning against Baysox reliever Jason Gurka. Cutter Dykstra hit a one-out double to right field and scored on a two-out single to center field from Jason Martinson to make the score 6-2.
Gurka pitched one and two-thirds innings and allowed one run on three hits while striking out three batters. Baysox closer Oliver Drake pitched the final one and one-third innings, not allowing a hit and striking out one for his 13th save of the season.
Dupra took the loss for Harrisburg, throwing three innings and allowing five runs on five hits while striking out two and walking five.
RHP Zach Davies (1-4, 6.26) takes the mound for the Baysox Monday as the teams plays the first game in a three game road series with the Trenton Thunder. He will be opposed by RHP Jairo Heredia (2-0, 2.97).
The Baysox depart for a three-game roadtrip to Trenton beginning Tuesday, June 16. The team returns home Friday, June 20 for a six game homestand with games against Trenton and Binghamton.
