
SeaWolves Down Senators, Win Fifth Straight

The SeaWolves matched their longest winning streak of the season as they held off a late charge on Friday night, taking down the Harrisburg Senators 7-5.
The Senators scored first for the second straight game when Jake Alu led off the third and homered off of Erie starter Chance Kirby for a 1-0 lead.
Erie responded in the top of the fourth against Harrisburg starter Ronald Herrera. Herrera retired the first two batters of the inning before giving up a single to Quincy Nieporte. Dane Myers followed with a double and Dillon Dingler walked, loading the bases. Andrew Navigato singled to right, scoring Nieporte and Myers for a 2-1 lead. Eric De La Rosa drew a walk to re-load the bases for Luis Carpio. Carpio walked, scoring Dingler for a 3-1 lead.
The SeaWolves added to the lead in the fifth against Harrisburg reliever Francys Peguero, again with two outs. Nieporte walked and Myers crushed his 11th home run of the season for a four-run lead.
Kirby exited the game after 4.2 innings, allowing a run on six hits with a walk and six strikeouts in a no-decision effort.
Erie added a run in the eighth against reliever Brian Gonzalez. De La Rosa singled to right with one out and Navigato at second putting runners on the corners for Carpio. Carpio grounded out to second, scoring Navigato for a 6-1 lead.
Harrisburg got two back in the last of the eighth off of Kyle Zurak. Wilson Garcia led off with a double and was doubled home by Brandy Lindsly. Alfredo Rodriguez singled home Lindsly making it a three-run game.
The SeaWolves went back up by four in the top of the ninth when Myers doubled off of Zach Brzycky, scoring Parker Meadows. Myers finished the day with three extra-base hits and three RBIs.
Erie turned to Nick Kuzia in the last of the ninth. Jack Dunn and Alu started the frame with back-to-back singles. Garcia singled home Dunn with one out to make it 7-4. Gerson Moreno was summoned to get the final two outs. He induced a sacrifice fly off the bat of Justin Connell, scoring Alu making it a two-run affair. Moreno then struck out Andrew Young looking for the final out, earning his fifth save of the season and third of the series.
Bubba Derby (1-0) earned the win in his first game since coming off the injured list tossing 1.1 scoreless innings allowing a walk while striking out one.
Herrera (3-5) took the loss allowing three runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 3.2 innings.
