
Seats Remain For Chiefs Opening Night On Saturday

The Spokane Chiefs have announced that plenty of tickets remain for Bud Light Opening Night on when the Chiefs host the Tri-City Americans at 7:00 tonight in the Spokane Arena.
The first 2,000 fans through the gates, and all full season ticket holders in attendance, will receive a collector's edition silver puck presented by the Black Book by Hagadone Directories. The Chiefs will begin a season long celebration of their silver anniversary tonight and will welcome the Americans for the first of 12 meetings on the season.

Included into tonight's opening ceremonies will be a look back at the Chiefs past. The team will welcome back a number of former players, a majority if which have made their home in Spokane after their playing days were over. Being recognized on the ice tonight will be the Chiefs coaches, Hardy Sauter, who played in 1991-92 as a 20-year-old defenseman, and Assistant Coach Jon Klemm, who captained the 1991 Memorial Cup team. Also coming back will be Justin Hocking (1991-93), Kevin Sawyer (1992-94), Dmitri Leonov (1993-96), Joe Cardarelli (1993-97), Kris Graf (1995-98), Ty Jones (1995-99), Cam Severson (1997-99), Brandin Cote (1996-2002) and Seth Compton (2004-09).
TONIGHT'S GAME
The Chiefs will host the Americans in their first of 12 meetings on the season. The game will mark the 18th time in the last 20 years that the two have opened the season in Spokane. Last year, the home team won nine of the 12 match-ups. Spokane won the season series 7-4-0-1 with a 5-1 record at home. The Americans finished 5-5-0-2 with a 4-1-0-1 record at home. Mitch Wahl had nine goals in 10 games versus the Americans while Jared Spurgeon (2-4-6) and Stefan Ulmer (0-6-6) each had six points. James Reid made three starts and finished the season 2-1. Spokane shutout the Americans 4-0 in last year's home opener. In its 21st year of existence the Chiefs lead the series 124-110-1-5 with 13 ties.
