
T-Birds Fall To Bruins

Kent, September 25, 2009 - The Chilliwack Bruins defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-1 Friday night at ShoWare Center in Kent.
Seattle travels to Portland to take on the Winterhawks on Saturday night. Game time is 7:05 p.m. at Memorial Coliseum.
The T-Birds scored the first goal of the night when Jonathan Parker intercepted an outlet pass inside the Bruins' blue line on the left side. Parker came through the left circle, cut around Chilliwack goalie Mark Friesen and beat him with a forehand. Parker's second goal of the season, scored on his birthday, was unassisted. Chilliwack (1-2-0-0) evened the score midway through the period after Isak Quakenbush battled for the loose puck in front of Calvin Pickard and knocked it past the line just before the net came off its posts. The goal was allowed after a brief review.
Seattle outshot Chilliwack 15-12 in the first period.
The Bruins took the lead at 9:14 of the second period on a goal by Ryan Howse. Mitch McColm had the only assist on the goal.
Howse gave the Bruins a 3-1 lead at 19:16 of the period when he scored his second goal of the night.
Seattle outshot Chilliwack 13-8 in the second period.
The Bruins' Roman Horak tallied the lone goal of the third period at 14:49 to give Chilliwack a 4-1 lead.
Chilliwack outshot Seattle 11-4 in the third period but the T-Birds finished the game with a 32-31 advantage in total shots.
Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard made 27 saves on 31 shots and his record is now 1-3-0-0.
Friesen stopped 31 of 32 shots and his record is now 1-1-0-0.

T-Birds single game tickets for the 2009-10 season are available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.
