Winston-Salem Dash News Release

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (May 29, 2015) - Matt Heidenreich won his Carolina League-leading seventh game, and a five-run second propelled the Winston-Salem Dash to an 8-1 series-clinching victory over the Lynchburg Hillcats in front of a season-high 7,117 fans Friday at BB&T Ballpark.

Chris Jacobs and Omar Narvaez each singled off Lynchburg (21-27) starter Dace Kime (1-2) to begin the second. Two batters later, Cleuluis Rondon delivered a single of his own to plate Jacobs and put the Dash ahead 1-0. With two out and two on, T.J. Williams ripped a triple into the right field corner to clear the bases. After Adam Engel drew a walk, Jake Peter crushed a two-run double to give the Dash (20-28) a 5-0 advantage.

This was all of the offense that Heidenreich (7-1) needed. The right-hander surrendered an RBI single in the top of the third, but cruised from there through six innings. Heidenreich yielded just one unearned run by scattering six hits and two walks around four strikeouts to become the fourth pitcher in Minor League Baseball to seven wins.

Winston added a run in the bottom of the third on Rondon's RBI groundout to go up 6-1.

The score would stay that way until the eighth inning, when Trey Michalczewski launched his team-high fifth home run to put Winston up 8-1. Michalczewski, who is third in the league with 30 RBIs, drove in his first runs since May 17 on that bomb.

Andre Wheeler fanned five batters, the most of any Dash reliever in a game this season, while pitching a scoreless seventh and eighth before Peter Tago took care of the ninth.

Kime allowed six runs on seven hits in 6.0 innings to take the loss. He struck out five and walked two.

The Dash will welcome the Salem Red Sox Saturday to begin a four-game series. James Dykstra (3-2, 2.89 ERA) makes the start for Winston-Salem against Salem's Aaron Wilkerson (2-0, 0.47 ERA). Pregame coverage is available at 6:15 p.m., with first pitch at 6:30 p.m. on wsdash.com/broadcast and the TuneIn app.

Bolt will celebrate his birthday with free face painting from 5:30-7:30 p.m., a birthday card signing table and pregame photo opportunities. For tickets, call the Dash at (336) 714-2287 or visit wsdash.com.
