Sea Wolves come from behind, take Stingrays to OT, fall 3-2

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - The Mississippi Sea Wolves battled back from a 2-0 deficit to force overtime but ultimately fell in overtime as Michael Dubuc's power play goal gave at 3:59 of overtime gave the South Carolina Stingrays a 3-2 win at the North Charleston Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.

South Carolina grabbed a 1-0 lead, capitalizing on a defensive miscue at the Sea Wolves blueline when Travis Morin broke down the right wing two-on-one with Keith Johnson, fed a pass over to Johnson who popped it past Mississippi netminder Ryan Munce for a shorthand goal at 11:25 of the first. The Stingrays would capitalize on special teams again in the final minute of the first, when Josh Godfrey potted his second goal of the season on the power play, blasting a slapshot from the point through a screen and past Munce for a 2-0 lead.

Jason Tejchma's 15th goal of the season got the Sea Wolves on the board when he banged at the rebound of a shot by Jeremy Hall until it crossed the goal line at 8:38 of the second frame.

Mississippi tied the game at two when Jeremy Hall punched a centering pass from Jeff Kyrzakos past South Carolina netminder Jonathan Boutin at 11:22 of the third.

Mississippi was able to kill off a late Stingray power play and force overtime, but Michael Dubuc potted the game-winner on a one-timer from the top of the right circle with South Carolina on the man-advantage at 3:59 of overtime.

The next broadcast of Sea Wolves hockey is Wednesday when the Sea Wolves host the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:05 CT, and will be heard on the B2 Networks and at www.msseawolves.com.
