50 REASONS TO SMILE : The Sea Dogs became the first team in professional baseball to 50 wins after last night's 3-2 victory over New Hampshire in the series opener...Tonight, the 'Dogs make their second attempt at improving to 25 games over .500 for the first time since they finished 83-56 to conclude the 1996 season...RHP Mike McCarthy (6-2, 3.77) makes his first start at Hadlock Field since May 19th vs. Binghamton (beat the Mets in game two of a doubleheader)...Portland leads the league in hitting (.287) and pitching (3.47 ERA).

DIAZ DEALING : RHP Luis Diaz (2-0) fired a career-high eight innings on seven hits and one run, as the Sea Dogs beat the Fisher Cats 3-2 on Monday night at Hadlock Field...Trailing 1-0, Sean Coyle tied the game with a lead-off homer in the second...Heiker Meneses gave Portland the lead with two-out RBI single...Deven Marrero continued his hot hitting, nailing a solo-homer to left-center field to begin the third...New Hampshire rallied in the ninth, receiving a solo-shot by Jonathan Jones and a triple from Matt Newman...Miguel Celestino was able to complete the save, retiring the final two batters on grounders to third base.
