Portland Sea Dogs News Release

NEWS AND NOTES

HOPING FOR EXTRA (OFFENSIVE) FIREWORKS : The Sea Dogs look to avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats tonight in the series finale at Hadlock Field. The Fisher Cats shutout the Sea Dogs 3-0 last night behind eight scoreless innings from Casey Lawrence. The two clubs have split the 10 games they've played at Hadlock so far this year. The Sea Dogs will host a fireworks show at the ballpark after the game.

ABOUT LAST NIGHT : Lawrence and Blake McFarland combined on the 3-0 shutout for the Fisher Cats, with McFarland working the final inning and striking out the side... The Sea Dogs had just four hits and were shutout for the 15th time this season (eighth at home), tying Richmond for the league high... An RBI double by Melky Mesa, a sac fly from Kevin Nolan, and a solo homer by Dwight Smith, Jr. provided the offense for the Fisher Cats.
