(Double-A Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers)

LHP Steven Matz (0-0, ---) vs. LHP Josh Turley (11-7, 3.48)

Wednesday, August 26 2015 - Game #129 - Home Game #62

NYSEG Stadium - Binghamton, NY - 6:35 PM

LAST GAMES: The Binghamton Mets lost both games of a doubleheader for the first time this season, as they were swept by the SeaWolves Tuesday at NYSEG Stadium. Erie took game one, 5-1, scoring four runs in the first two innings against Kevin McGowan in his Double-A debut. Josh Rodriguez had two hits in his return to the lineup.

The B-Mets dropped the nightcap by a score of 3-1. Binghamton wasted a bases loaded opportunity in the first inning and ran into a double play in the sixth when they had the potential tying run at third base. Vince Belnome had two hits and drove in the lone B-Met run. It was Binghamton's third and final doubleheader of the past week.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: LHP Steven Matz makes his return to Binghamton and gets the start in the series finale. Matz, who is on MLB rehab, made 12 starts for the B-Mets in 2014. He went 6-5 with a 2.28 ERA before making his big league debut earlier this season. Matz won both of his starts with New York (NL), before being placed on the disabled list in early July. He has since made two starts with St. Lucie (High-A), going 2.2 innings his last time out six days ago. He lost his only career start against Erie.

ERIE STARTER: LHP Josh Turley gets the ball in the series finale, making his 23rd start of the year. He won his first start against the B-Mets, allowing two runs in seven innings. Turley has not lost in four starts and has posted a 1.00 ERA in his last three (2 ER, 18 IP). He's coming off a victory in Akron, allowing two runs in six innings. This will be his third consecutive start on the road. He made nine starts with Erie in 2014, losing his lone outing vs. the B-Mets.

RETURN OF THE MATZ: Steven Matz becomes the 29th pitcher for the B-Mets this season and the 16th to make a start. Matz joins a list of rehabbers to come through Binghamton this year, including Bobby Parnell, Vic Black, Travis d'Arnaud, Dillon Gee and Erik Goeddel. Of the six rehabbers, five have been pitchers.

GREAT JULY: The B-Mets went 19-10 in July, their most wins in a month last June, 2014. Outside of that month, the B-Mets have been three games under .500 since the start of May (38-41). That includes an 11-12 August.

AT STAKE: Wednesday is the final meeting this season between Erie and Binghamton and will decide the season series that is currently tied at six wins apiece. Binghamton has not lost a season series with Erie since 2009, when they went 3-6. A lost Wednesday would make the B-Mets winless in their last four series.

HOME STRETCH: The B-Mets are in the middle of playing 20 games in 18 days to close out the season, including two doubleheaders. Tuesday's doubleheader was Binghamton's third in the past week. The B-Mets last scheduled day off was August 17th.

BANGED UP: Gavin Cecchini has missed each of the past six games for the B-Mets. Cecchini currently ranks second in the league in batting average (.317) and is top five in four other offensive categories.

X MARKS THE SPOT: Xorge Carrillo's only games off in the past 10 days have been part of doubleheaders. Carrillo is batting .360 (9-for-25) in his last seven games.

KEEP ON TRUCKIN': TJ Rivera has hit safely in five straight games, going 8-for-17. He is batting .368 in 23 games since returning to Binghamton from Las Vegas (AAA).

HOME: The B-Mets are just 31-30 at home this year.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets continue their week long homestand by hosting the New Hampshire Fisher Cats Thursday at 6:35 PM.
