New Britain Rock Cats News Release
New Britain- The Bowie BaySox completed a 3-game sweep against the New Britain Rock Cats with a 5-0 shutout win Wednesday night at New Britain Stadium. The Rock Cats have now lost 3 straight games after sweeping the first place Reading Fightin Phils last weekend in PA. BaySox starter Chris Lee limited the Rock Cats to only two hits, a pair of singles in 5.2 innings while earning his 4th win since joining Bowie earlier this month. Relievers Andrew Robinson, Pat McCoy and Jason Stoffel did not allow a hit over the final 3.1 innings, retiring nine of the 10 batters faced for the Orioles' affiliate.
Bowie scored the first run of the game on a 2-out solo home run by 1B Trey Mancini off New Britain starter Ryan Carpenter, who was denied his third straight win and tagged with the loss. The Rock Cats lefty pitched out of a second and third situation in the second inning before getting reached for three runs in the third.
Carpenter walked Mancini and walked OF Quincy Latimore with two outs in the 3rd inning and then allowed a run scoring single to 3B Brandon Snyder and a 2 RBI hit by C David Freitas to make it 4-0 Bowie. The BaySox added a run on a sac fly by OF Mike Yastrzemski in the 6th inning.
Rock Cats relievers Tyler Ybarra and Jose Ortega combined to pitch three scoreless innings of relief while permitting just one hit. In their last-ever homestand at New Britain Stadium, the Rock Cats will open up a 4-game weekend series against the Portland Sea Dogs on Thursday night. LHP Harrison Musgrave will start for the Rock Cats against RHP Mike McCarthy who goes for the Sea Dogs. Game time is at 7:05 PM.
