Bowie, Md. - The Baysox shut out the Rock Cats 5-0 to complete a three-game series sweep in their last ever trip to New Britain Wednesday night. The Baysox pitching staff allowed just two hits in the win as Bowie lowered its magic number to five to clinch a playoff spot.
Baysox starter Chris Lee threw 5.2 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while walking four and striking out five in the win. Relievers Andrew Robinson, Pat McCoy and Jason Stoffel combined to throw 3.2 hitless innings to finish off the game, walking one batter and striking out two.
Trey Mancini got the scoring started for the Baysox with a solo home run in the top of the first inning against New Britain starter Ryan Carpenter.
The Baysox blew the game open with three more runs in the top of the third inning. With two outs, Mancini and Latimore drew back-to-back walks before Brandon Snyder brought Mancini home with a single to center field. David Freitas continued the two-out rally with a two-run single to left field that gave the Baysox 4-0 lead.
Bowie's final run of the night came in the top of the sixth inning. Snyder hit a lead-off single to right field, moved to third base on a Freitas single and scored on a Mike Yastrzemski sacrifice fly to give the Baysox a 5-0 win.
