HARRISBURG, PA - The Portland Sea Dogs shutout the Harrisburg Senators, 7-0 on Thursday night at FNB Field. The Sea Dogs improve to 17-10 while the Senators fall to 8-18. Sea Dogs starter Frank German with Jake Thompson, Joan Martinez and Zack Kelly combine for the shutout and allowed five hits.

Frank German earned his first win of the season in his best outing of 2021. He tossed 5.0 shutout innings allowing two hits while walking one and striking out three. Ryan Tapani was given the loss, pitching 4.0 innings allowing one run on four hits with no strikeouts or walks.

With one-out in the top of the first inning, Pedro Castellanos drove his first triple of the season to right centerfield. The next batter, Joey Meneses, popped up a sacrifice fly to left field and the Sea Dogs led, 1-0.

The Sea Dogs struck again in the sixth inning. With back-to-back baserunners in Rosario and Castellanos, Meneses drove them both home with a deep two-run double to left field. Ronaldo Hernandez then blasted a two-run home run to left field and Portland continued to lead, 5-0.

In the top of the eighth inning, Meneses and Hernandez reached on back-to-back singles. Meneses came around to score on a fielding error by Aldrem Corredor and the Sea Dogs extended their lead, 6-0. Hernandez then crossed the plate on a ground-out double play hit by Jhonny Pereda and Portland led 7-0 after six innings.

The Sea Dogs and Senators meet tomorrow for game four of the series at 7:00pm at FNB Field. Portland will send RHP Josh Winckowski (2-0, 1.33 ERA) to the mound while LHP Carson Teel (0-2, 4.15 ERA) will start for the Senators.
