Screaming Eagles to Honour Veterans

Sydney, NS The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles will hold its annual Remembrance Day game on Sunday versus the Moncton Wildcats at 4:00 pm.

The Screaming Eagles working in junction with members of the Sydney Garrison at Victoria Park, Veterans Affairs Canada and the Royal Canadian Legion have prepared a ceremony prior to Sunday's game to honour all those who have served and are presently serving Canada in conflicts around the world.

"Cape Bretoners have always responded to the call when needed by their country in the various conflicts and peacekeeping missions over the past century and we as an organization feel it is important recognize that fact" Screaming Eagles President Paul MacDonald said. " Canada and in particular Cape Breton is one of the best places to live in the world and one of the reasons why is because of those Cape Bretoners and Canadians who sacrificed their lives serving their country. It's important that we honour that sacrifice during Veterans Week."

Sunday's pre-game ceremony will include the Pipes and Drums of the 2nd Battalion Nova Scotia Highlanders (Cape Breton), The Royal Canadian Legion Colour Guard and active members of the Sydney Garrison who have served their country, aiding Canadians at home in times of natural disasters, and serving overseas in; Afghanistan, Sierre Leone, and Yugoslavia.
