Lewiston, ME (QMJHL) - Recently acquired Russian phenom Kirill Kabanov will make his MAINEiacs debut this evening against Val-d'Or.

The highly skilled New York Islanders draftee has received clearance to play and will dress this evening against the Foreurs.

Kabanov arrived Wednesday evening in Lewiston after receiving the necessary visa clearance.

The MAINEiacs organization would like to thank Maine US Senator Susan Collins and the Department of Homeland Security for their assistance with this issue.

When Ernie Gagne is not teaching his 4th grade class, game nights he is at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. The MAINEiacs needed an annoucer for the games and with a background as a DJ, Ernie fit.

He has been there since the beginning. Even his students in his class think that its cool that their teacher is the annoucer for the MAINEiacs.

Ernie has a different perspective on the game being seated between the 2 penalty boxes. The only thing he has a hard time seeing is the 2 corners on the home team side.

Ernie does practice names before each game. If he has any questions on the pronunciation of a player's name,he will go ask the opposing team's coach or trainer.

Most names are not difficult for Ernie to prounouce. European names sometimes give him difficulties. And when first startiing out Chicoutimi wasnt coming out fluidly.

When he is in the annoucer's box, he hears EVERYTHING between the players when they are still going at each other even after they are put in the penalty box.

Former MAINEiac Patrick Cusack and another player were still shouting at each other after they were issued penalties. Patrick decides to throw a full water bottle at the other player, who caught it. After that Ernie realized it was his water bottle Patrick threw.

Ernie admits that when 2 Slovakian players were still yelling at each other, he was getting a spit shower. He keeps his cool during the games but there are occasions when he'll lose it or players will try to make him laugh.

Even on a rare occasion Ernie has messed up and not realized it. That happened when former MAINEiac Danick Paquette was issued a penalty. Ernie did his job and annouced the penalty on Danick, but annouced him playing for Lewiston. Danick was playing for Quebec.
