Mahoning Valley Scrappers News Release

On Tuesday night the Scrappers got a good mix of starting pitching and strong bats. Starter Russell Young worked five innings and only gave up one unearned run on one base hit while striking out eight and walking only one. The Scrapper bats were also hot as they scored in the second inning on a RBI double by Walter Diaz. The Scrappers then tacked on three more in the third on RBI singles by Jeremy Tice and Donnie Webb. Mahoning Valley added one more in the fourth on a RBI double by Isias Velasquez.

Auburn scored their lone run in the fifth, then the Scrappers added on more in the eighth. Then in the ninth the Double days threatened loading the bases before Scrapper reliever Daniel Morales struck out the final two hitters to end the game and sent the Scrappers off on the six game road trip win a 6-1 victory.
