Cyclones "Go To Extremes" for Billy Joel Tribute on July 12th

Brooklyn, NY, July 1, 2008 - Billy Joel may be preparing for his "Last Play At Shea", but before that, he will appear at KeySpan Park in Coney Island - stitched together in the form of a baseball! On Saturday, July 12th, beginning at 6 PM, the Brooklyn Cyclones will pay tribute to the Piano Man and celebrate the release of 'The Stranger 30th Anniversary Edition' with a "Salute to Billy Joel" where the first 2,500 fans through the turnstiles will receive a commemorative Billy Joel Baseball. In addition, fans will have the chance to win two (2) tickets to see the six-time Grammy Award winner perform at Shea Stadium on July 16 or 18, courtesy of Sony. "Billy Joel is an institution the world over, but he has always maintained his ‘New York State of Mind', so it makes perfect sense for us to celebrate his legendary career at KeySpan Park," said Steve Cohen, General Manager of the Brooklyn Cyclones. "From commemorative baseballs to prize packs and trivia contests, we are paying homage to a one of a kind performer."

As part of the festivities, giveaways will also include prize packs featuring "The Stranger" Deluxe Box Set, a limited edition poster and a vinyl copy of the original "The Stranger" album. In-between innings, fans can participate in both Billy Joel-themed trivia contests and sing-a-longs of his most popular tunes, many of which will be played throughout the game. The iconic pianist and singer-songwriter, whose music has transcended generations, has sold over 150 million albums worldwide and is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Having sold more than 100 million records over the course of an extraordinary career spanning more than 40 years, Billy Joel ranks as one of most popular recording artists and respected entertainers in the world. He is a six-time Grammy winner and is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. When it was announced earlier this year that Billy Joel -- who holds the Madison Square Garden record for the longest sequence of sold-out shows by a single artist (12) -- would perform the last concerts at New York's fabled Shea Stadium, more than 110,000 tickets sold out in just 45 minutes. Joel's historic "Last Play At Shea" concerts are scheduled for July 16 and 18.

The evening also doubles as "Bike Night" at KeySpan Park where, following the game, registered participants will be able to ride their motorcycles onto the warning track where they will be judged by Full Throttle magazine, with winners being named in a series of categories. Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Billy Joel's breakout album "The Stranger" with the release of two special editions -- a Deluxe Limited Edition and a 2 CD Legacy Edition -- of the best-selling multi-platinum collection which catapulted Billy Joel into the ranks of pop music superstardom. Each will pay tribute to classics such as "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant," "The Stranger," "She's Always a Woman," "Only the Good Die Young," and "Just the Way You Are" and will be available online and in stores on Tuesday, July 8, 2008.
