January 15, 2012 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rapid City Rush News Release

(Rapid City, SD) - Rapid City Rush team captain Scott Wray ended a thirteen-game goalless drought with a pair of tallies in a 5-3 win over the Wichita Thunder. The win means the Rush picked up three of a possible four points on the weekend and have points in ten straight home games. With wins in eleven of their last fifteen games, the Rush maintain their 4th-place position in the Turner Conference. The Rush are back on home ice on January 20th & 21st against the Dayton Gems and tickets are available by calling 716-7825 or online at gotmine.com.

Wichita's Dustin Donaghy had quite the first period, netting his first two goals of the season, making it a 2-2 contest after one period. The first came at 5:46 on a deflection from the top of the crease and his second came in the final minute of the period on a wrist shot from the top of the right circle. Sandwiched in between Donaghy's goals were two tallies by Rush veterans Scott Wray and Colin Circelli. Wray's first goal was the conclusion of a textbook 3-on-2 chance set up by Sean Wiles and Les Reaney. Later, while on the powerplay, Circelli held the puck along the goal line before banking home a shot off of goaltender Adam Russo.

Rapid City's top line regained the lead for the Rush, beginning with a breakaway goal at 12:28 by Shawn Limpright who snapped a wrist shot to the top-right corner. Four minutes later, Jesse Schultz netted his team-leading 19th goal of the season to give the Rush a 4-2 advantage. The Thunder cut the lead back to one on a goal from Chris Chappell who capitalized on a defensive zone turnover for his third goal of the season.

Scott Wray scored the lone goal of the third period, completing his second multi-goal effort of the season on a 2-on-1 set up by Anthony Perdicaro for the 5-3 win.
