NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (16-14-5) fell to the Texas Brahmas (16-13-7) by a 4-2 score as the Brahmas avoided the three-game sweep. AJ Mikkelsen and Aaron Lee both scored for the Bees in the loss.

The Texas Brahmas took the first lead of the game as Ross Rouleau scored at the 5:51 mark of the first period as the Brahmas came in on an odd man rush.

The Bees tied the game at one as AJ Mikkelsen slapped a shot from the point to the back of the net while the Bees were on the power-play. For Mikkelsen it was his fifth goal of the season. Dan Gendur and Tomas Klempa each picked up assists on the goal.

The Brahmas would take a lead in the second period as TJ Fox found the back of the net twice in a span of less than two minutes. The Bees struggled to get the puck out of their own zone for the first goal and a second defensive breakdown gave the Brahmas the two goal advantage.

In the third period the Bees would get one goal back but unable to find the equalizer before the horn sounded. Aaron Lee scored his 17th of the season with a one-time shot off a Jason Dixon feed. Scott Balan also picked up the assist.

As the game to a close the Bees pulled goalie Wylie Rogers and the Brahmas added an empty net goal.

The Killer Bees return home this Tuesday evening playing host to the Laredo Bucks at 7 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 843-PUCK or visiting killerbeehockey.com.
