Allen Too Much for Tulsa in 5-2 Decision

January 15, 2012 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release

TULSA, OK - A crowd of 10,035 at the BOK Center wasn't enough to push the Oilers past the Americans on Saturday night. Despite a packed house, Allen jumped out to a 4-0 lead and cruised to a 5-2 victory. It was the Americans first win in four meetings against Tulsa this season.

The visitors led 3-0 after the first period thanks to goals from Jeff Martens, Aaron McGill, and Bruce Graham.

Five minutes into the second period, Tyler Ludwig put the Americans up by four and Oilers goalie Ian Keserich was replaced by newcomer Steve Christie. Tulsa showed a spark when Dylan Clarke put the Oilers on the board with his 14th goal of the season. Before the second period was done, Nick Layton tallied for the Americans and pushed the Allen advantage back to four goals.

Luke Lucyk blasted a slap shot past Rejean Beauchemin on an Oilers powerplay mid-way through the third period, but that was all the offense Tulsa could muster. For the Oilers, it was just their third regulation loss at home this season.

The Oilers and Americans don't have to wait long to face each other again. The two clubs will clash in Allen on Monday afternoon at 1:05 p.m.
