Gems Return Home to Host Evansville at 4pm

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Gems return home to the comfy confines of the historic Hara Arena for a Sunday afternoon matinee matchup on Cassano's Italian Ice with the Evansville IceMen at 4pm

The Gems bus home after being swept in their two game series with the Quad City Mallards, falling 6-3 on Friday night and 9-1 on Saturday night inside the iWireless Center in Moline, Illinois. Sunday's game with the IceMen concludes the three game weekend for the Gems.

Gameday In Dayton

The last meeting between the Gems and IceMen came on December 27, a 6-5 Evansville overtime win inside the Ford Center.

The Gems (12-16-7) Skate into Sunday's matinee winless this season against the IceMen, despite taking Evansville into extra frames twice this season. Dayton is 0-3-2 against their southern Indiana foe, including being 0-1-1 at home.

The IceMen (19-9-3) come to the Gem City hot off a 3-1 win against conference-best Fort Wayne in front of a sold out Ford Center crowd (9,403) on Saturday night in Evansville. IceMen netminder Bryan Gillis earned the game's first star after earning his 11th win of the season between the pipes.

Gems Game Notes

Posterboy - Dayton's Brett Lutes is the featured player for Sunday's limited edition poster giveaway to the first 1,000 fans starting at 3pm.

All Star Lutes - Brett Lutes represented the Gem City well on Wednesday night as the lone Gems player participating in the 2012 All Star Game. Lutes would earn two assists and a +5 rating to help his CHL All Star team beat the CHL's Arizona Sundogs 6-4.

New Guys! - The Gems welcome fresh blood to the roster with the addition of forwards Robin Richards and David Nimmo. Nimmo would score in his first game with the Gems on Friday night against the Mallards.

Scorin' Surma - Dayton's Damian Surma continues to the lead the Gems in goals scored with 18, and is tied for second in the CHL for goals, just four behind league leader Brandon Marino of the Quad City Mallards.

Powerplay Master - Brandon Naurato remains third best in the CHL in powerplay goals with 8.
