
Scivicque, Paul, Flaa & Peitzmeier Selected in Early Rounds of Major League Baseball Draft

St. Cloud, MN- Four former St. Cloud Rox players were selected Tuesday during the second day of the three day 2015 Major League Baseball Draft. The list includes Kade Scivicque, Chris Paul, Jay Flaa and Tyler Peitzmeier.
Scivicque, who played for the Rox during the 2014 season, was drafted in the 4th round, 130th overall, by the Detroit Tigers. He played in 40 games for the Rox, mostly at the catcher position. He becomes the highest drafted Rox player since their inaugural season in 2012. This season for Louisiana State University, Scivicque has a .347 batting average with six homeruns and 45 runs batted in and recently qualified for the CollegeWorld Series.
Paul, from the University of California, Berkeley, was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 6th round, 170th overall, by the Minnesota Twins. He played for the Rox during the 2012, 2013 and 2014 seasons. He played every infield position throughout his Rox career. Paul led the Rox in at-bats all three seasons that he played in St. Cloud. He was named the team's Most Valuable Player following the 2013 and 2014 seasons. During the 2014 season he was selected as the starting third basemen for the North Division in the Northwoods League All-Star Game.
Flaa was also drafted in the 6th round, 193rd overall, by the Baltimore Orioles. He spent time as a right-handed relief pitcher for the Rox during the 2013 season. This season at North Dakota State University he threw 35.2 innings, struck out 54 batters and held opponents to a .194 batting average.
Peitzmeier, who played for the Rox last season, was drafted in the 9th round, 263rd overall, by the Chicago Cubs. During the Rox 2014 season he pitched 47 innings and led the team with an ERA of 1.34. Peitzmeier, a southpaw, is currently playing for Cal State Fullerton and ranks third in all of Division 1 baseball with 16 saves this season. Cal State Fullerton recently qualified for the College World Series.
The Rox return home next Sunday, June 14th at 1:05 PM as they host the Willmar Stingers at Joe Faber Field for Rox Drawstring Backpack Giveaway presented by Central Minnesota Credit Union. Also it is Books & Baseball Day presented by the Initiative Foundation and United Way, where Rox players will be reading to kids 5 and under on the field before the game. Kids can also run the bases at the conclusion of Sunday's game as part of Coborn's Kids Day.
