Kingfish Open Up Road Stretch With Victory in Kalamazoo
June 9, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Kenosha, WI. - The Kingfish are hot. Having claimed victory in Kalamazoo, the Kingfish have now won six consecutive ballgames which includes three last at-bat victories. Their most recent 6-1 win at Kalamazoo marks their third over the Growlers this season.
It began with a stellar pitching performance yet again, but this time the man on the mound was Brendon Allen. Allen came into this game with an 0-2 record and an ERA just under 9.00. None of that mattered as he threw 8.0 IP of 1 run ball while allowing just three hits. Allen would strike out four throughout the night, and then Maustin Otterstatter would finish the deal with a scoreless inning of work.
The Kingfish kept up their other trend of scoring early in the ball game. The Kingfish added 2 runs in the first inning after Jason Scholl drove home a run on a groundout and a throwing error brought home Alex Borglin. Andrew Brahier cracked the lead open a bit with a 2-run blast in the third. The Growlers would strike back with Justin Fletcher RBI base-hit in the bottom of the third.
The Kingfish would do their final damage in the fifth as Andrew Brahier would hit an RBI single, then a sacrifice fly by Nolan Lodden would bring in a final sixth run. That would be all the Kingfish needed as they cruised to their sixth straight victory with a final score of 6-1. The Kingfish were able to do it even with Zach Weigel and Eric Filia out with injuries. The Kingfish maintain their current spot atop the Northwoods League South Division, and will finish their two-game series with Kalamazoo.
The Kingfish ticket office powered by Platinum Systems is located at 7817 Sheridan Road and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
