Cats Hold Off Honkers

Thunder Bay Border Cats News Release


The Border Cats held off the Rochester Honkers after gaining a four run lead in the top of the fourth inning. Thunder Bay went on to win 6-3 over Rochester to complete their first sweep on the road improving to 8-5.

Joe Gellenbeck (Xavier University) had three hits including a two-run homer, his first of the season. Matt Batten (Quinnipiac University) and Alan Baldwin (University of Hawaii) also earned one RBI each in the fourth inning

Winning pitcher Jeremy Charles (University of Hartford) allowed only three runs on four hits and notching four strikeouts over the first five innings. Cole Stapler had the save for Thunder Bay pitching the last 0.2 innings and striking out two.

The Cats continue their road trip in Waterloo, Iowa against the Bucks Tuesday evening at 8:05pm EST / 7:05pm CST.
