
Schedule set for Second Annual Robert E. Rich Memorial High School Baseball Classic

The Buffalo Bisons today announced the schedule for the second annual "Robert E. Rich Memorial High School Baseball Classic," sponsored by Mighty Taco and The Buffalo News. The three-day, single-elimination tournament will be held at Dunn Tire Park from Friday, April 27-Sunday April 29.
Bishop Timon/St, Jude will begin the defense of their 2006 championship in the tournament's first game, Friday, April 27 at 4:00 p.m. against Hutch Tech. St. Mary's Lancaster, Clarence, Williamsville North, Canisius, Frontier and St. Francis high schools will also participate in this year's event.
Admission to all games is free. All fans in attendance will receive a strip of Mighty Taco coupons.
"This is another great opportunity to display the exciting high school baseball talent of Western New York in the premier baseball facility of our community," said Mike Buczkowski, Vice President/General Manager of the Buffalo Bisons. "We're looking to build off the success of last year's tournament and make the High School Baseball Classic the premier showcase of local baseball talent."
Each team will play on Friday and Saturday, with the four winning teams advancing to the semi-finals on Sunday morning. The two victors from those games will play in the Championship game on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. The winning school will take home the Robert E. Rich Cup. The Most Valuable Player from each of the eight teams will take home a prize pack, courtesy of Mighty Taco.
All games are scheduled for seven innings and all players must use wood bats.
