
Knights Stranded After Bulls Win

FORT MILL, S.C. - April 26, 2007 - The Charlotte Knights had plenty of scoring opportunities in their 5-2 loss to the Durham Bulls. In fact, they had 15 of them. That's the number base runners that were stranded-6 of them when the bases were loaded. Durham's Justin Ruggiano provided the spark that the Bulls needed to break a 5-game losing streak, going 2-3 with 3 RBI's.
3B Josh Fields and DH Ernie Young both had opportunies with the bases loaded, but the Knights came up short. J .P. Howell (1-3, 5.26) picked up his first win of the season for the Bulls, Chad Orvella (S,2) got the save. Vladimir Nunez (1-2, 3.97) took the loss, going 7 innings, giving up 7 hits, 5 earned runs and striking out 5.
The two rivals will conclude their two-game series in Charlotte on Friday. LHP Heath Phillips (2-1, 3.04) takes the mound for the Knights, while RHP Jeff Niemann (0-1 3.60) will start for the Bulls. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
