Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release
First in the Northern League in several categories, it's only fitting that Pat Scalabrini should be the first member of the Goldeyes recognized for his efforts.
The Winnipeg third baseman hit just about everything thrown at him last week and, for that, he was named today as the Daktronics Northern League Player of the Week for June 7 to June 13.
In six games at home, Scalabrini batted .519 (14/27) with five doubles, three home runs, seven runs batted in and 10 runs scored. He also posted respective .552 on-base and 1.037 slugging percentages and played flawless defence.
Entering tonight's action (Winnipeg is idle), Scalabrini is batting .371 with five home runs and 22 RBIs. He leads the league in doubles (15), extra-base hits (22) and slugging percentage (.722), is second in triples (2) and runs scored (26), third in hits (36) and seventh in batting.
The Goldeyes open a three-game set in Kansas City on Tuesday before heading for Lincoln for four games with the Saltdogs. They next see action at home on Wednesday, June 23 when Joliet comes to town.
