Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

The Lincoln Saltdogs began their 12-game homestand with very little offensive life Monday night, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Joliet Jackhammers at Haymarket Park. Joliet's Nathan Kent pitched 8 scoreless innings, allowing just 3 hits, while striking out 7.

All 3 Jackhammers runs came on solo home runs, 1 each from Josh Loggins, Corey Paul, and Ben Fritz. The home run for Fritz was his first as a professional. He signed his first professional contract with the Jackhammers on June 10th.

Lincoln's Darren Truty was once again a victim of poor run support. Truty was saddled with a loss against the Schaumburg Flyers on June 8th when he allowed just 3 earned runs in 7 innings, and this time Truty received the loss after allowing just 2 earned runs in 7 innings. His record falls to 1-3 on the season.

Kent's record improves to 2-2 on the year. Robert Garvin allowed an unearned run in the 9th and saw the tying run come to bat, but finished out the game without further damage. He picked up his second save of the season.

Lincoln falls to 14-9 on the season, while Joliet improves to 13-11. The Saltdogs drop to 3.5 games behind league-leading Schaumburg, which scored 4 runs in the top of the 9th inning to defeat Gary 5-1 Monday night. Joliet remains 5 games back of Schaumburg.

The clubs will meet up again on Tuesday at Haymarket Park. Jodie Kennedy (2-1, 6.75) is the probable starter for Schaumburg, and he will be opposed by Hideki Nagasaka (1-2, 4.71) in a 7:05 start.
