Santa Cruz Warriors News Release
LAS VEGAS, NV - The Santa Cruz Warriors (8-10) fell to the Capital City Go-Go (9-9), 108-105, on Wednesday afternoon at the 2022 AT&T Winter Showcase.
Guard Lester Quinones led the Warriors with 25 points and added six rebounds and guard Dusty Hannahs followed closely with 23 points. Both Santa Cruz centers finished with double doubles today, with Trevion Williams notching 10 points and 11 rebounds and Jayce Johnson adding 13 points and 17 rebounds off the bench.
Guard Kris Dunn finished with 16 points and added eight rebounds and eight assists for the Go-Go. Guard Johnny Davis, on assignment from the Washington Wizards, closed out the day with 16 points and six rebounds, and forward Makur Maker added 14 points and six rebounds.
The Warriors went on a 6-0 run to open the contest, however 15 first quarter turnovers by the Sea Dubs gave the Go-Go a 34-20 lead heading into the second quarter. Capital City extended the lead by as many as 20 points in the second quarter, but back-to-back three-point shots by Hannahs late in the frame closed the Go-Go's lead to just five points at the half, 56-51.
The contest went back-and-forth throughout the third quarter, with Capital City pulling ahead 82-77 heading in the final frame. The Go-Go extended their lead to 14 points in the fourth quarter, but the Warriors responded with a 9-0 run to help close the lead. Although Santa Cruz had a franchise-high 32 turnovers this afternoon, the Warriors offense closed the Go-Go lead to just three points, 106-103, with a final target score of 107. However, a driving layup by Capital City's Dunn propelled the Go-Go to the final target score first, securing the win over the Sea Dubs, 108-105.
The Sea Dubs will start the regular season against the Stockton Kings for back-to-back games on December 29 and 30 at 7:00 p.m. PST at Kaiser Permanente Arena.
