Clippers Defeat Celtics To Advance To Showcase Cup Championship

LAS VEGAS - The Ontario Clippers (14-4), the NBA G League affiliate of the LA Clippers, defeat the Maine Celtics (11-7), 124-112, to advance to the G League Showcase Cup Championship.

LA Clippers assignee Brandon Boston Jr. led all scorers with an efficient 33 points on 12-of-19 shooting from the field. Jason Preston, also on assignment, filled up the box score with 22 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals on the night. Nate Darling led all reserves with 19 points off bench.

Former Clipper Mfiondu Kabengele paced the Celtics with 29 points. JD Davison added a triple-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.

After facing a quick five-point deficit to open the game, the Clippers quickly regained their footing to end the opening frame with an eight-point lead. The lead would grow to as much as 15 as Ontario headed into the break with a double-digit advantage. The seemingly safe lead quickly diminished as Maine came out of halftime on a mission, outscoring Ontario 22-12 to get within a single point. But the Clippers were able to fend off the Celtics' attack and maintain the lead the rest of the way for the victory.

Next up, the Clippers look to secure the bag as they face off against the Windy City Bulls on Thursday in the Showcase Cup Championship. Tip-off is slated for 12:30 pm PST at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
