Santa Cruz Warriors Fall to Bakersfield

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors fell to the Bakersfield Jam 123-108 Friday night.

Nemanja Nedovic, currently on assignment from the Golden State Warriors, led Santa Cruz with 29 points. Dewayne Dedmon logged his seventh consecutive double-double with 18 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, while Kevin Kotzur scored a career-high 24 points.

Bakersfield was led by Atlanta Hawks assignment player Jared Cunningham, who scored a game-high 30 points and had eight assists. Ian Clark, currently on assignment from the Utah Jazz, scored 15 points, while Rudy Gobert, also on assignment from Utah, chipped in with 10 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.

There were 13 lead changes in the game, all in the first three quarters of play. Santa Cruz led by as much as 11 early in the second quarter, but the Jam finished the first half on a 16-6 run to take a three point lead at halftime. The game was tied at 77 with 6:36 left in the third, but Bakersfield's assignment players scored eight straight and the Jam never looked back. Santa Cruz came within three midway through the fourth quarter, but Bakersfield extended its lead to end the game.

Santa Cruz shot 45.7% from the field, while the Jam shot 59.0% from the floor - a new record for an opponent against Santa Cruz. The Jam held the edge on points in the paint (60-44), rebounds (40-39), assists (27-24) and blocks (4-1), while Santa Cruz had more steals (10-5) and second chance points (27-18).

The Santa Cruz Warriors return home to Kaiser Permanente Arena on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. for their final home game of 2013 against the West Division leading Idaho Stampede.
