Tyshawn Taylor and Tornike Shengelia Assigned to Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Brooklyn Nets announced Saturday that guard Tyshawn Taylor and forward Tornike (Toko) Shengelia have been assigned to the Armor and will join the team prior to Saturday's game against the Sioux Falls Skyforce.

Taylor saw action in 17 games (three starts) with the Nets prior to his assignment with Springfield. The 6-3 guard averaged 4.9 points and 2.1 assists per game with Brooklyn before being shipped to the Armor. Taylor made eight starts with the Armor last season, averaging 24.6 points and 7.5 assists per game.

Shengelia joins Taylor on assignment after averaging 1.9 points and 1.2 rebounds per game over 11 games with the Nets. Acquired from the 76ers in June of 2012, the 6-9 forward made 10 starts with the Armor last season, averaging 24.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.

Taylor and Shengelia were the top two scorers for the Armor in 2012-13 despite not playing more than 10 games apiece.

Taylor will wear #4, while Shengelia will wear #23. Attached is an updated roster.

The Armor return to action tonight at 7:00 p.m. against the Sioux Falls Skyforce inside the MassMutual Center for the team's annual 'Season of Giving' game, presented by Z Airport Parking. Springfield will then host the Maine Red Claws, NBA Development League affiliate of the Boston Celtics, on Sunday in a 3:00 p.m. matinee.
