Texas Legends News Release

ERIE, PA - The Texas Legends, presented by Veracruz (visit Veracruz.mx), powered out a 38-point fourth quarter to take the Erie Bayhawks into overtime. With a combination of stifling defense and foul-line accuracy, the Legends rolled over Erie 9-0 in the final three minutes to take home the 127-118 win.

The Legends got off to a slow start with Erie blazing through the first quarter 32-19, but rallied a comeback in the second, taking the two teams into the locker room tied at 52. The second half proved to be an intense 24 minutes with 5 lead changes and 3 tie-ups. When the buzzer sounded for the fourth quarter the Legends were ready, fighting tooth and nail for each basket and eventually outscoring the Bayhawks 38-32, just enough to force an extra period.

Texas was still ruffled from an unexpected loss the previous night and stepped up to take control of the extra minutes immediately. With the first shot of the overtime Ebanks rebounded his own flaws twice, refusing to give up and grabbing the points on the lucky third attempt. The Legends thrived on Erie turnovers and fouls, with 5 of the final 9 points coming from the free throw line. The Legends' defense sent a message, shutting out the Bayhawks to take home the victory 127-118.

The Legends had 7 of the 9 roster spots in double-digit scoring with Booker Woodfox and Sammy Yeager coming off the bench to add 14 and 11 respectively. Devin Ebanks was the leading scorer of the night with 27 points, hitting a game-high 5 from beyond the arc while adding 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and a blocked shot. Melvin Ely followed closely with 25 points in 39 minutes, while Ricky Ledo posted the Legends' only double-double tallying 16 points and 12 rebounds. Erie's top prospects Jeremy Tyler and CJ Leslie led the Bayhawks with 21 and 20. Tyler also grabbed a game-high 18 boards in his 32 minutes of play.

The road streak continues for the Legends next week as they head to Idaho for a double-header Dec 27 and 28. The team will return home Jan 11 to host the Houston Rockets affiliate at 7pm on Veracruz Court. For tickets or information visit www.TexLegends.com.
