December 21, 2013 - NBA G League (G League)
Erie BayHawks News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania - The Erie BayHawks hosted the Texas Legends for the second night of a back-to-back on Saturday night at the Erie Insurance Arena. Much like the Friday night's contest, the two teams played a competitive back-and-forth game that had to go to overtime before a winner was crowned. In the end, the Legends were too much in extra time and downed the BayHawks by a final score of 127-118.
Erie controlled much of the first quarter and held a 13 point advantage heading into the second frame. Jeremy Tyler was big for the BayHawks as he recorded 10 points and six rebounds in the first. The Legends battled back in the second stanza, tying the game at halftime.
The second half featured multiple lead changes and ties. The BayHawks had a five point lead in the final minute but failed to execute from the free throw line and Texas used timely three-point shots from Sean Singletary to eventually tie the game at 118. A buzzer-beating shot by Mustafa Shakur fell just short and the game went to overtime.
Texas dominated the overtime period as the BayHawks failed to register any points. Erie struggled inside without Tyler, who had fouled out late in the fourth quarter. The Legends converted from the field and the line and downed the BayHawks by a final of 127-118.
Erie was led by Tyler, who had another monster double-double with 21 points and 18 rebounds. CJ Leslie (20 points and nine rebounds), Scott Suggs (19 points), Ricky Davis (16 points and six rebounds) all had stand out nights for Erie. Devin Ebanks led the Legends with 27 points and nine rebounds while Melvin Ely (25 points and nine rebounds), Ricky Ledo (16 points and 12 rebounds) and Booker Woodfox (14 points and 7 assists) also contributed with big nights for Texas.
The BayHawks will return to action when they host the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at home on Friday, December 27. Texas will play their next game on Friday when they travel to Idaho to face the Stampede.
