Santa Cruz Suffers Tough Loss to South Bay, 127-89

EL SEGUNDO, CA - The Santa Cruz Warriors (6-10) lost to the South Bay Lakers (9-5) Saturday night, 127-89.

In the first quarter, South Bay capitalized on seven Santa Cruz turnovers to take a one-point lead into the second, 27-26. South Bay used a 12-0 run early in the second quarter to find some distance from the Warriors and went into halftime leading, 56-48.

The game got away from the Warriors in the third quarter when the Lakers outscored the Warriors, 38-18. In the final quarter, the Lakers extended their lead to as many as 44 points and won the regular season series against the Warriors (2-1).

The Warriors were led by guard Eli Pemberton with 27 points (8-10 FG). Forward LJ Figueroa tallied 19 first half points and finished the night with 25 points (5-11 3FG) and 11 rebounds.

The Lakers bench was led by forward Paris Bass (26 points) and outscored the Warriors bench, 49-17. Forward Mason Jones led the Lakers with 27 points and forward Jay Huff set a new career-high with 24 points.
