GREENVILLE, SC - For the second time this season Ricardo Morales flexed his muscles on the mound against Greenville as the lefthander led Savannah to a 4-3 win on Thursday night at Municipal Stadium. Morales (3-1) allowed just one run over seven and two-third innings in earning his second win of the season vs. the Bombers. A fifth year pro, Morales has yielded only one run in two winning starts against Greenville in a combined 13 and two-third frames.

Bombers starter Scott Shoemaker (L,2-2) turned in six solid innings constantly working in and out of trouble. Savannah would get on the board with a first inning run on Brad Ditter's two-out RBI single. The Gnats upped their lead to 2-0 in the fourth as Steve Mortimer doubled to open the inning and would eventually socre on a two-out hit by Ian Desmond.

Trailing 2-0, Greenville's best chance to make a dent agains Morales came in the sixth inning. A walk, an Ian Cronkhite double and a hit batsman loaded the bases with one out. John Otness hammered a fly ball to deep left center field that had the potential to give the Bombers the lead, however center fielder Rogearvin Bernadina made a brilliant diving catch on the warning track forcing Otness to settle for a sacrifice fly and a 2-1 Greenville deficit.

Savannah added insurance runs in the seventh and ninth innings against the Bombers bullpen to widen their lead to 4-1. Those tallies proved to be big as Greenville's Mitch Stachowsky launched a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to make the final margin 4-3.

The Bombers, who have now dropped three of four games on the current homestand, host the Rome Braves on Friday at 7:05pm in the opener of a four-game series. Lefthanders Andrew Dobies (4-1) for Greenville and Jonathan Venters (2-1) for Rome will pitch.
