
BlueClaws Split Series with Intimidators

Lakewood, N.J. â The Lakewood BlueClaws (10-24) and the Kannapolis Intimidators (17-17), Single-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, closed out their series in North Carolina with the BlueClaws winning 6-4. Jason Jaramillo led the offense going 2-for-5 with three RBI's.
The BlueClaws scored first in the top half of the third inning taking a 1-0 lead. With two outs in the inning back-to-back singles by Sam Orr and Jason Jaramillo put runners on first and second. Ryan Frith then stepped up and connected for an RBI double scoring Orr from second.
Starter Andy Baldwin went through the first four innings allowing only two base runners to reach second base. Then in the top of the fifth on the very first pitch Chris Kelly smashed a solo homer to tie the game up at 1-1. It was Kelly's third home run of the series, connecting for a two run shot in game one and a solo home run in game three.
Lakewood regained the lead in the seventh inning on Jaramillo's RBI base hit and the BlueClaws led 3-1. With the bases loaded Jaramillo hit a grounder down the third base line scoring John Hardy from third then Mike Dzurilla scored on Layne Berry's throwing error.
The BlueClaws scored three more times in the eighth to take a 6-1 lead highlighted by Jaramillo's two run single. With runners on first and third Dzurilla connected for an RBI base hit scoring Kiel Fisher from third. Orr followed up with a walk to load the bases then Jaramillo connected for a two out two-run base hit.
Baldwin got the no decision in the game while working five innings and allowing just one run on three hits while walking four with three strike outs. Nate Johnson (2-1) picked up the win in relief allowing just one hit in one inning worth of work.
Jacob Barrack (S, 1) closed out the final 1 2/3 innings allowing three runs on four hits while striking out three.
The BlueClaws now travel to Salisbury Maryland for four games against the Delmarva Shorebirds, Single-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. Lakewood will send left-hander Derek Griffith (2-2, 2.50) to the mound to open up the series. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m. with on-air time at 6:20 p.m. on 1310 WADB and www.blueclaws.com.
This season, the Lakewood BlueClaws are celebrating their fifth anniversary of providing great fun in the Jersey sun. Among the great promotions this year, kids twelve and under eat free every Monday night home game courtesy of ShopRite. In addition, the BlueClaws will host games against affiliates of the New York Yankees and New York Mets.
