CURVE, Pa. - After an 11-game road trip, the first-place Altoona Curve returned home Friday night and opened the first game of the series with a 2-1 win over the Binghamton Mets behind a strong pitching performance from the entire staff. Curve pitching retired 15 straight batters to end the contest to back the superb start from Angel Sanchez (5-1) on Friday.

Sanchez settled down nicely after giving up the first run of the game to former Curve third baseman Josh Rodriguez, who homered in the first. The Tenares, D.R native went seven strong innings, allowing one run and six strikeouts. In his last 15 innings, Sanchez has only allowed three runs.

Adam Frazier's lead-off double in the third got the Curve (27-19) offense. Josh Bell, who went 2-for-4 in Friday night's contest, drove Frazier in two batters later to tie the game at one.

Curve pitching kept the game tied at one until the seventh. With Frazier on second, Max Moroff ripped a single up the middle off rehabbing Mets' reliever Bobby Parnell, who is on a rehab assignment with Binghamton, to score Moroff giving the Curve a 2-1 lead. Curve relievers Tom Harlan and Jeff Inman pitched the final two innings to preserve the win for Sanchez. Inman worked the ninth for his first save of 2015.

Curve newcomer Jose Osuna, got his first Double-A hit in the eighth inning after being promoted from Single-A Bradenton for Friday night's game.

Saturday night's 6 p.m. at the ballpark will be Star Wars Night. The Curve will wear the nationally acclaimed Jabba the Hutt jerseys and those will be auctioned off during the game. Proceeds from the jerseys will help feed the hungry at the St. Vincent de Paul Society Soup Kitchen. Fans can also enjoy a Star Wars-inspired fireworks show after the game. Members of the Ritchey's Dairy Curve Kids' Club can get in free to Saturdays game with their membership cards. All fans are encouraged to come dressed in their best Star Wars attire for the game.

Right-hander Jason Creasy (5-0, 2.82) seeks to keep his perfect record intact Saturday night against the Mets RHP Robert Gsellman. This will be Gsellma's first Double-A start after going 6-0 with a 1.76 ERA at Single-A St. Lucie.
