Harrisburg Senators News Release

Colin Bates, Gilberto Mendez and a three-run seventh inning was the right formula for the Harrisburg Senators in a 3-2 win over the Bowie Baysox Friday night at Prince George's Stadium. The win snaps a three-game losing streak for the Senators (21-26).

In a second straight spot start, Colin Bates was fantastic again. Bates limited Bowie to two runs despite allowing eight hits in six innings of work. Harrisburg's three runs in the top of the seventh inning allowed Bates to receive his first win of the season. Following Bates' start, Gilberto Mendez carried Harrisburg the rest of the way by pitching the final three innings without allowing a run. Mendez retired the first eight batters he faced before allowing back-to-back singles with two outs in the ninth. The right-hander was able to shut the door by inducing a force out at second base.

Following a quiet first six innings, Brian Goodwin started the Senators' seventh with a solo home run off the foul pole in right field. Mario Lisson singled and Kevin Keyes was hit by a pitch to set up a game-tying RBI single by Pedro Severino. Shawn Pleffner followed with a walk to load the bases, and Harrisburg scored the eventual game-winning run when Tony Renda was hit by a pitch.

In his return to Harrisburg for a second rehab stay, Anthony Rendon singled once in four at-bats and played seven innings at second base. Seven different Senators had one hit in the game.

Harrisburg will try to secure a series victory Saturday night with Austin Voth on the mound. The game will begin at 6:35 p.m. The pregame show will start at 6:20 p.m. on Fox Sports 1460am, iHeart Radio, and on Tune In.
