Published on August 27, 2015 under American Hockey League (AHL)
San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (Aug. 27, 2015) - The San Antonio Rampage will open their 14th American Hockey League (AHL) season, presented by CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System, on Oct. 10 against Pacific Division rival the Texas Stars at the Cedar Park Center at 7 p.m. San Antonio will play its first home game on Saturday, Oct. 24, as it hosts the Stockton Heat at 7 p.m. at the newly-renovated AT&T Center.
The Rampage will play a total of 76 games (38 home, 38 away) with a home schedule that features 31 weekend dates (13 Fridays, six Saturdays and 12 Sundays). All regular season games can be heard on the Rampage's flagship station KTKR "The Ticket" 760 AM (subject to conflicts) with Dan Weiss serving as the voice of the Rampage.
Home start times this season for Friday games will be 7:30 p.m., while midweek and Saturday games will begin at 7 p.m. and Sunday games will have a 4 p.m. puck drop. Back by popular demand, fans can enjoy draft beer and fountain soda for only one dollar during each of the Rampage's 13 Friday night games as part of the Bud Light $1 Drink Night promotion.
The Rampage will face their in-state rivals the Texas Stars 14 times (seven home, seven away) while welcoming five new opponents in the newly-formed Pacific Division. San Antonio will face the Bakersfield Condors, Ontario (CA) Reign, San Diego Gulls, San Jose Barracuda and Stockton Heat six times each, including three matchups with each division opponent inside the friendly confines of the AT&T Center.
The Rampage will be one of 30 teams competing for the Calder Cup and will face 14 opponents this season. All 76 of the club's games will come against teams in the Western Conference, which consists of two divisions - Central and Pacific. San Antonio will play 44 games against teams in the Pacific Division and 32 games against the Central Division, including four contests (two home, two away) against each of the division's eight teams. Throughout the season, the Silver and Black will tackle four sets of three games in three nights and 15 back-to-back contests.
The team will play 10 home games in January, highlighted by a stretch of nine straight at home that will tie for the third-longest home stand in franchise history (11-game home stand in 2007-08, 10-game in 2005-06, 9-game in 2006-07).
Following the team's annual Rodeo Road Trip, San Antonio will play 12 of its last 18 games at the AT&T Center, which includes nine of its 11 games in March. This season's Rodeo Road Trip will be an 11-game journey in which the Rampage play six different opponents in 23 days. The trip will span both coasts and cover more than 12,000 miles, which will rank first in franchise history for distance covered on the Rodeo Road Trip.
