Toronto Marlies Announce 2015-16 Schedule

Toronto Marlies News Release
The Toronto Marlies announced their regular season schedule Thursday. The Marlies start their 11th season in the American Hockey League with a two-game series at home against the Manitoba Moose on October 9th (7:00 PM) and October 10 (3:00 PM). The Marlies will play their first road game against the Rochester Americans on October 23rd.
After a busy summer of realignment that included the establishment of a new Pacific Division, the Marlies find themselves playing in the Eastern Conference for the first time in franchise history. The team will remain in the North division and will be accompanied by the Albany Devils, Binghamton Senators, Rochester Americans, St. John's IceCaps, Syracuse Crunch and the reigning North Division Champion Utica Comets. The Eastern Conference is divided into the North and Atlantic Division, while the Central and Pacific Division form the Western Conference. Toronto will play 16 games against the Western Conference; eight games against the Manitoba Moose, four against the Lake Erie Monsters and four against the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Notable games for the Marlies include an October 30th rematch of last season hard fought first round playoff series against the Griffins at Ricoh Coliseum. The Air Canada Center will serve as home ice on four occasions this season, three of which will precede Toronto Maple Leafs home games (11/28, 2/20, 3/26). Additionally, games on November 28th (2:00PM), December 26th (3:00PM) and March 26th (2:00PM) will all be contested between the Marlies and St. John's IceCaps, while the fourth game on February 20th will feature the Portland Pirates at 2:00 PM. The Marlies will continue to host three school day games, beginning at 11:00 AM, welcoming upwards of 20,000 students from the Toronto, Toronto Catholic and York Catholic District school boards.
As the Royal Winter Fair occupies Ricoh Coliseum in November, the Marlies will embark on their longest stretch of road games. Beginning on November 1st, the Marlies will play their next seven games on the road, returning to home ice on the November 21st for a meeting with the Rochester Americans. The road trip will cover over 6,000 km and include stops in Albany, Hartford, Binghamton, St. John's and Rochester. Toronto enjoys their longest home stand of six games beginning February 19th against Wilkes-Barre and concluding March 1st against Albany. The home stand includes an ACC game (against Portland) and their first two school day games.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be the busiest for the Marlies, with 62 games slated for those days, including 31 on home ice. Saturday will be the most popular day for Toronto with 27 games scheduled, while Monday is the least popular with zero games scheduled. Toronto will be busiest in January with 13 games (six home games) planned in the month; April is the lightest with eight games (five home games) scheduled, including the last game of the season on April 17th at home against Rochester.
