Penguins Announce Regular Season Schedule for 2015-16

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will hit the ice for their 17th season in the American Hockey League on Friday, October 9, when they face off with the Providence Bruins in Rhode Island. The full 2015-16 AHL regular season schedule was announced Thursday afternoon.

After a two-game road trip which sees games against the Bruins and Bridgeport Sound Tigers (Saturday, October 10), the Penguins will open the home portion of their schedule on Saturday, October 17 against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms with a special 4:05pm start.

The Penguins will play a 76-game regular season schedule (38 home/38 road) featuring games against every team in the Eastern Conference. With the AHL's new alignment for the 2015-16 season, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton will be a member of the Atlantic Division, along with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Hartford Wolf Pack, Hershey Bears, Lehigh Valley Phantoms, Portland Pirates, Providence Bruins and Springfield Falcons. The Penguins will meet division foes 54 times (27 home/27 road) with their remaining 22 games coming against clubs in the North Division (11 home/11 road).

Returning to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's schedule after a one-year hiatus will be the Rochester Americans, Toronto Marlies and Utica Comets.

The longest homestand for the Penguins comes early in the season with seven straight contests at Mohegan Sun Arena from October 24 - November 14. It marks the team's longest stretch on home ice since the 2009-10 season. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's longest road trip will span six games from January 12 - 24 with visits to St. John's, Syracuse, Portland and Providence.

The puck will drop on weekend evenings or afternoons for 28 of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's 38 home games. The Penguins will also take the ice for their annual New Year's Eve match on Thursday, December 31 at 5:05 p.m. versus the Syracuse Crunch.
